The Council for the Town of Gravenhurst participates annually in the Commencement Exercises for Gravenhurst High School by providing a Bursary in the amount of $2,000.00. We are pleased to be able to provide support for one eligible student looking to pursue post-secondary education and would encourage all graduating students to submit their application.
Through the Mayor, a working group of Members of Council is established to review applications and make recommendations for a successful recipient to be recognized at the Commencement Ceremonies at the end of the school year.
The Town is seeking applicants who meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the busary:
Along with a completed application form (provided below), applicants are invited to submit an essay, maximum of 750 words, minimum of 500 words.
When writing your essay the use of generative AI technology is not allowed.
Applicants must also include a letter of support from an education professional such as a principal, teacher, or guidance counsellor.
Annually, the GHS Bursary Program Working Group will select the topic of the essay.

Applications are due May 31 of each year. In the event the 31st falls on a weekend, applications will be due the following Monday.
The GHS Bursary Working Group will evaluate the applications based on an evaluation spreadsheet.
